Advancing Climate Solutions

In 2024, Lightsource bp completed construction on Peacock Solar, an innovative, utility-scale solar farm that will provide renewable solar power to the GCGV site.

Peacock Solar at full capacity is expected to:

Power 100%

of the GCGV facility on a sunny, summer day

Provide 40%

of the site's total power annually & reduce total greenhouse gas emissions by 6%

Reduce

the site's dependence on the energy grid & improve community power stations

"Utilizing renewable energy from a solar farm such as this allows GCGV to reduce our demand on typical power generation and offset those emissions."
Keith Heyer
GCGV Technical Department Head

Did you know?

GCGV has a Greenhouse Gas Roadmap to decrease emissions and increase efficiencies on site.

The 187- megawatt solar farm will be home to 600+ sheep, overseen by a shepherd, to maintain the land under the solar panels - a practice known as agrivoltaics.
